On Saturday The Guardian newspaper published its Holiday Hotspots: where to go in 2015

Both Dorset and Salisbury, just over the border in Wiltshire, hit the list of locations which stretched from Patagonia to the Faroes.

The rolling hills, Jurassic coast, hidden villages and unchanged landscapes of Dorset, and the celebrations surrounding the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta are mentioned as highpoints.

Salisbury Cathedral houses one of only 4 remaining originals of the Magna Carta that were validated by King John and lies just 30 minutes drive east of Shaftesbury, into Wiltshire. Its peaceful setting in The Close and the surrounding streets and shops make it a ‘must’ while staying at the cottage.
