Updown Cottage is a luxury self catering holiday cottage to rent on Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset, close to the borders of Wiltshire and Somerset. It is rated 5* by Visit Britain with a Gold Award, given to only the highest scoring properties in Britain.

The interior design aims to integrate original historic details and antiques with contemporary luxury, comfort and convenience.

  • Historic C16th property (beams galore!) opposite the C9th walls of Shaftesbury Abbey
  • Less than 2 hours from London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports
  • Central for the Cotswolds and Bath to the north, the Jurassic coast (Broadchurch location) to the south, Stonehenge to the east and Devon and Dartmoor to the west

  • Sleeps 6 + a baby in 4 bedrooms – 2 kingsize doubles and 2 singles

  • A 10 minute drive from Compton Abbas airfield
  • Parking is free and unrestricted on the non-cobbled section of Gold Hill (3 cottages downhill) and you may drive up to the front door to unload
  • Children are welcome (please note the number of stairs!)

  • Sadly unsuitable for pets
